Description
This model is from my first package of models of the Colombian Air Force, in this case it is the T-34A Mentor Trainer
The Colombian Air Force began the incorporation of the T-34 in 1954, year in which 50 aircraft were acquired and initially assigned to the Aviation School in Cali, Valle del Cauca. Later, and in order to keep the recently graduated pilots well trained, some Mentors were assigned to the Air Bases of Apiay in Meta, Melgar in Tolima and Palanquero in Puerto Salgar, Cundinamarca.
This team, with the passage of time and for other reasons, became extinct. After almost 40 years of uninterrupted operation, in which more than 30 aircraft were lost and/or crashed, in 1990 the decision was made to rescue the best aircraft to modernize and repower them, leaving them at “0” hours. Through the Pace-Mentor program signed by the Air Force and the Arrow Falcon Enterprises company of the USA, the task was started and from its first stage 8 Mentor T-34 came out like new.
In December 2013, a Mentor took flight for the last time: the FAC-2321, piloted by Major Camilo Perdomo, Squadron Commander, who in a flight of 1 hour and 25 minutes, flew it from Cartago to the Military Aviation School in the city of Cali. Currently, the FAC-2337 is preserved in flight conditions as the flagship aircraft of the Military Aviation School.
I hope you like it
