Description

In 1951, the U.S. Navy asked America’s top aerospace companies to submit proposals for a turboprop-driven VTOL fighter plane that could provide protection for troop and transport ships at sea. Martin Aircraft was one of several companies to develop innovative vertical-launch concepts for this competition. It looked at a number of solutions, including this “C” version in which two counter-rotating propellers were mounted close to the airplane’s tail.

This model shows how the Martin 262c would had look if it had served with the VF-121 Peacemakers.
