Description
In 1941 the Piper Aircraft Company provided J-3 Cubs as liaison aircraft to the US Army for the war games conducted in Louisiana. The little Cubs proved their worth on the battlefields and the Army started ordering Cubs as L-4 Grasshoppers. The L-4 Grasshopper is the military version of the Piper J-3 Cub.
An L-4 commanding an artillery battery could accurately destroy targets with more destructive power than a battleship!
