Description
Late war camouflaged Spitfire Mk.IXe of 132 Squadron RAF fitted with Wing Pylons for Bombs or extended range Fuel tanks. The aircraft also features Invasion Stripe markings. Aircraft such as these, fitted with Wing Pylons were used after D-Day to transport Beer and other non-essential supplies to Troops in continental Europe. This short lived, RAF command approved operation was dubbed “Modification XXX”.
