Description
THIS KIT IS A REISSUE OF A PREVIOUS ECARDMODELS.COM LISTING
The Seafire Mark III was developed from the Spitfire Mark Vc, and was the first Seafire variant to feature folding wings. Other carrier-specific equipment included an arrestor hook faired into the fuselage, lifting points for being craned on an off aircraft carriers, and catapult spools on the undercarriage. 1220 were built, serving from 1943 through the end of the war.
Marek’s paper model of the Seafire Mk.III bears the markings of a Fleet Air Arm fighter serving in 1945 on HMS Implacable with 880 Squadron in the Pacific, and features the “barred roundel” marking designed to prevent confusion on the part of other Allied pilots, who might, it was thought, confuse the regular British roundel marking with the Japanese hinomaru.
Paper Model Details: 315 parts on eight pages, with 16 construction diagrams and 13 wire templates. Joiner-strip-and-bulkhead fuselage construction, with full cockpit, rolled and layered landing gear, wheels, and details. Wing spar with airfoil formers. Boxed wheel wells. Degree of Difficulty: 4/5.
