42-27385 Republic P-47D-27-RE Thunderbolt converted to YP-47M
Purchased by entrepeneur Milton Reynolds in 1947, this never commissioned aircraft was sold to the public, converted and modified for racing.
With war hero Bill Odom as the Pilot,it was eneterd in the 1947 Bendix Air Races at Cleveland but did not qualify due to a fuel leak.
Sponsored by the Dallas Aero Service and Lear Autopilots, the “Dallas Reynolds Bombshell” honored the original Reynolds Bombshell…an A-26 Invader flown around the world in record time by Odom and Reynolds.
42-27385 is currently restored to its original factory look and on display at the Yanks Air Museum in Chino Calif.
