This F-47* (*post WW2 designation) served as a “Civilian Warning Aircraft” over the Wright Field Testing Area of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio sometime around 1948. Since most civilian aircraft at that time were not equipped with Radios, this plane served to warn such aircraft away from the test area.
