Description
The Spanish armored cruiser Cristóbal Colón was a warship that was built for the Spanish Navy in the late 19th century. The ship was part of a naval program that aimed to modernize the Spanish Navy and increase its ability to project power overseas. During the Spanish-American War of 1898, Cristobal Colon was part of the Spanish fleet that attempted to break through the American blockade of Santiago de Cuba. It was sunk during the Battle of Santiago de Cuba, Spanish-American War.
