Description
The 201st Squadron was a fighter squadron of the Mexican Expeditionary Air Force which fought in the Pacific theater, more specifically in the Philippines against the Japanese. This squadron was composed of the powerful P-47 Thunderbolt in various versions, both the -30 and the -23, some of which were donated by the United States and others brought directly from Mexico. This squadron had an effectiveness of 85% in its more than 90 air combat missions, air support for American troops in Manila and air escort. Most of its planes had to have both the American and Mexican cockades for better recognition.
Mexico and Brazil were the only 2 Latin American countries that participated in World War II. While Mexico participated in the Pacific, Brazil participated in Europe, but as if it were a coincidence of fate, these two countries operated the Thunderbolt as their main fighter outside their borders.
I hope you like these models.
