Build your own fully amphibious Hovercraft LCAC Paper Model The Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) can move a 60 – 75 ton payload from ship to shore and back. When needed, the LCAC can move the same cargo over the beach, supporting the assault elements of a Marine task force. Furthermore using four centrifugal fans powered by the crafts engines to create a cushion of air. Additionally the hovercraft then rides this over any surface.
As one of the most advanced concepts in amphibious warfare, the LCAC capable of launching its assault forces in any water depth. As part of its flexibility, it can also launch the forces well inland of the sea, regardless of land type, be it sand dunes, mud flats, snow or ice. By putting ramps at each end of the deck, the offload time of vehicles is greatly decreased, allowing the LCAC a quicker return time to the ship to bring follow-on forces to the fight.
