Description
This model is from my first package of Colombian Air Force models, in this case the incredible F-80 and T-33
The Colombian Air Force acquired the T-33 in 1954, beginning the “Jet Age in Colombia.” This fact was not a product of chance, but the result of a careful analytical process. With the first 6 aircraft that cost US $1,620,000, Colombia became one of the pioneer countries in Latin America in the use of jet aircraft.
In 1955, the Colombian Air Force began to acquire these aircraft, initially the first 15 arrived, later another ten aircraft arrived, until a total of 25 aircraft were completed. They were distinguished by registration numbers between FAC-2330 and 2354.
All the equipment was operated from the Palanquero Air Base in Puerto Salgar, Cundinamarca, which lasted until 1966, when they were definitively withdrawn from service. From there, they carried out countless public order missions in support of surface forces, such as Marquetalia, El Pato and the Llanos Orientales.
In 1955, aircraft continued to be received through the MAP (Military Assistance Program). Between 1972 and 1980, the T-33s were assigned to the Apiay Base in Meta after the restructuring of the training programs for combat pilots. In 1978, the last 12 T-33 aircraft arrived with registrations from FAC-2033 to 2044. From 1981, the aircraft were transferred to Malambo Air Base, Atlántico, where they operated until 1990. The T-33s performed numerous missions in law enforcement areas and participated in combined operations in other countries; such as Unitas, Halcón Vista and Solidaridad. During their 36 years of service, only 8 crashed.
I hope you like it
