Description

Since their arrival in the country in December 2006, these aircraft have been instrumental in countering the FARC, providing support to ground troops during attacks and combat, especially in neutralizing the organization’s leaders. Some of these include Operation Phoenix on March 1, 2008, against alias “Raúl Reyes”; Operation Sodom on September 23, 2010, against alias “Mono Jojoy”; and Operation Odiseo on November 4, 2011, against alias “Alfonso Cano.” The Super Tucanos are the only combat aircraft of the Colombian Air Force that have participated in six international exercises under NATO standards.
