Description
This model is from my first package of models of the Colombian Air Force, in this case it is the DHC-2 general utility aircraft.
In 1950, the Colombian Air Force acquired thirty-five of these aircraft with registrations FAC 101 to 135; later they were renamed between 5101 and 5135. Upon arrival they were assigned to the Palanquero Air Bases in Puerto Salgar and to the Liaison Squadron at the old Techo airport in Bogotá. Later they were assigned to other units; such as Apiay in Meta, Melgar in Tolima, to SATENA, to the Southern Air Group, today the No. 6 Air Combat Command in Tres Esquinas and to the Northern Air Group, currently the No. 3 Air Combat Command in Malambo, Atlántico.
In Colombia it was successfully used in all kinds of operations regardless of meteorological or topographical conditions. For the Beaver there were no impossibles, since it was used as a supplier for air units and troops that were in remote and inaccessible areas of public order, adapting hangers or hard points under its wings to transport suspended loads
