If paper models are new to you, then these step-by-step color photographic instructions can help you decide whether it is something that you would like to try. These instructions are the same instructions that are included in the downloads when you purchase a DGA J-3 Cub, or L-4 Grasshopper. They show how to build the aircraft on wheel landing gear or on seaplane floats.
Similar tools and techniques are used on most all paper models. You purchase and download pdf files from Ecardmodels, and print them yourself. To build the model, you cut out the pieces, shape them, and glue them together.
