Description
The Lockheed U-2, nicknamed “Dragon Lady”, is an American single-engine, high altitude reconnaissance aircraft operated since the 1950s by the United States Air Force (USAF) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). It provides day and night, high-altitude (above 70,000 feet, 21,300 meters), all-weather intelligence gathering.
The U-2C serial number 56-6692 was build as a U-2A, went to the CIA, USAF, CIA, converted to U-2C, then U-2F, whent to Taiwan, converted to U-2C, later U-2CT until it was finally retired in December 1987, having flown 7,900 hours and made 11,330 landings!
Today it can be found (As a U-2C) in the Duxford Museum in UK
