Description
Some said the Sukhoi S-56 Baby Flanker was an abomination. But whatever this thing is, it was never formalized in to a real aircraft. The S-56 was designed by the Soviet Union as a compact shipborne light fighter from the end of ’80s and early ’90s to be equipped aboard the Admiral Kusnetzov aircraft carrier.
With heavy design elements taken from existing Flanker series, it could be easily recognized by its smaller size and its single engine usage. It was the only fighter from the other light concept series, S-54 and S-55 trainer.
Its last public appearance was in 1997 Paris Airshow as a scaled down replica.
