Issue Number Three of the “Rare & Unusual Paint Schemes – Supermarine Spitfire” is Ezer Weizman‘s TE554 of the Israeli Air Force.
Mk IX Spitfire, “Black 57” (TE554) of the Israeli Air Force, famous for being the personal aircraft of decorated WW2 Veteran Ezer Weizman.
Featuring a distinct all black paint Scheme with red accents, the aircraft was was of many Spitfires formally flown by the Czechs emblazoned with a Red Lightning Bolt.
Ezer Weizman is a veteran of many influential actions during the Battle of Britain and participated in the D-Day attacks. He later went on to command the Israeli Air Force, served as Israel’s Minister of Defense and eventually became Israel’s 7th President during the decade before his death.
The “Black 57” still flies today and is on display in Israel’s Air Force Museum.
A derivative design of Marek’s 1/50 scale Spitfire models, this model has been redrawn and modified with this historic livery.
The kit also features other upgrades like photorealistic elements and simulated landing gear wells.
Kit contains basic assembly diagrams and internal formers.
