Description

The MH.1521 was a French bush aircraft, of which the prototype made its first flight in 1952. Its main military roles were liaison, observation and light transport. The MH.1521 was powered by a 450hp Pratt & Whitney Wasp Junior engine. In total 363 Broussards were built, the majority of which in the military MH.1521M version. Other versions were the MH.1521A (for agricultural use) and MH.1521C for commercial operation. Several military versions were converted into the civil C variant.
Military operators included France, Argentina, Morocco, Portugal, Cambodia and a number of African countries.
Its similarity to the DHC.2 Beaver earned the Broussard the nickname of “French Beaver”.
