Description
Issue Number Four of the “Rare & Unusual paint Schemes – Supermarine Spitfire” is JF470 of the 308th fighter Squadron USAAF.
Mk IX Spitfire, Serial# HL-R (JF470) with its distinctive clipped wings, was attached to the 308th Fighter Squadron (1st Fighter Group).
Based in Italy, during the closing years of World War 2, the 308th FS provided close Air Support and Bomber Escort.
The 308th later acquired P-51 Mustangs.
A derivative design of Marek’s 1/50 scale Spitfire models, this model has been redrawn and modified with this historic livery.
The kit also features other upgrades like photorealistic elements and simulated landing gear wells.
Kit contains basic assembly diagrams and internal formers.
Please note: cover states 1/48 Spitfire wingspan is 9″ when in fact this clipped wing version is less than 8″.
