Downloadable kit for paper model aircraft. This model is designed to be printed on 110# index [298 gsm cardstock]
First built in 1947, the Lockheed TV-2 was the US Navy’s first jet trainer.
Model scheme: At the dawn of the jet era, The US Navy needed to train their piston engine pilots to fly the new jets. The Advanced Training Unit ATU-200 was formed in Kingsville, Texas to do just that. This is the school that transitioned the Blue Angels from the F8F Bearcats to the F9F Panthers. The two seat aircraft that was used for the transition was the Lockheed TV-2 Silver Star as represented by this model.
The model finish is bare aluminum gray – the photos in the gallery are of a prototype model before the color was added. The photo of the real aircraft was taken by an unknown US Navy photographer and is in the public domain.
