1/48 Fairey Firefly II M, Y-47, Aviation Militaire Belge (1930’s) – Paper Model

Description

Fairey Firefly II M

The Fairey Firefly was designed by Marcel Lobelle, Fairey’s chief designer, as a single-seat fighter. It first flew in 1929. Although the prototype was flown in RAF markings, it did not enter British military service as the RAF preferred the similar-looking Hawker Fury.
Belgium’s Aviation Militaire became the only user for this beautiful biplane. Total production reached 87 aircraft, most of them built by Fairey S.A., the Belgian subsidiary of the British Fairey company. Some examples still saw service at the outbreak of war.
The initial 1930’s colour scheme consisted of alu allover, except for the black anti-glare fuselage top. When war approached, the aircraft received a coat of dark green on the top surfaces.

Paper Model Details: 49 parts on two pages, with diagram instructions. Integral tabs, duo-fold struts and landing gear legs, layered prop, boxed wheels, and full cockpit. Degree of Difficulty: 4/5 (biplane)
