Build a paper model of one of the most famous biplanes of all time, the deHavilland DH82 Tiger Moth!

The Tiger Moth began as a development of the DH60 Gipsy Moth, and was designed to meet a United Kingdom Air Ministry requirement for a primary trainer. The first Tiger Moths entered RAF service in 1932, but the event that cemented its place in aviation history came with the formation of the Empire Air Training Scheme, an aircrew training program that used standardized curricula and equipment for training RAF and associated air forces throughout the Commonwealth. The Tiger Moth was chosen as the standard initial trainer for this plan, which resulted in the aircraft being built in a number of Commonwealth and Allied nations. Over 11,000 Tiger Moths of various versions were produced, with some 250 still flying today as prized warbirds. Widespread post-war availability resulted in the Tiger Moth being adapted for a number of civilian roles in addition to flight training and pleasure flying, including air taxi and agricultural work. Agricultural aircraft were usually converted to single-seaters, with a hopper or tank fitted to the front seat area. The aircraft depicted by this paper model was operated during 1951 in New Zealand by Aircraft Service Ltd. Registered as ZK-BDG, the Tiger Moth was modified for use in the agricultural role.

These super-detailed 1/48 scale Tiger Moths have been designed to be the definitive paper model Tiger Moth. All models include a fully detailed interior, with additional exterior details, to give you a superb paper model that will equal and exceed similar plastic or resin models. Each design is illustrated by leading International Aviation Artist Rosie Louise, who is likely the only woman designing paper model airplanes in the world. Contour Creative Studios has worked hard to make these designs amazingly accurate, working off both archival photographs and drawings created by former de Havilland engineer and expert, the late Norman Eastaff.

The aircraft depicted by this paper model, ZK-BDG, worked as an agricultural aircraft in New Zealand.

Paper Model Details: approximately 125 parts, with optional and spare parts. Extensive assembly instructions with detailed diagrams. Layered wheels and duo-fold struts. Full cockpit with fuselage inserts; choice of instrument panels; build photos of construction techniques. Designed and illustrated by Terry Moyle and Rosie Louise. Degree of Difficulty: 5/5.
