1/33 Mk8 Spitfire RG-V Grey Nurse Sharkmouth Australia Paper Model

Description

Issue Number Two of the “Rare & Unusual Paint Schemes – Supermarine Spitfire” is RG-V (A58-602) “Grey Nurse“.

No. 457 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, was formed in England in 1941 in accordance with the Empire Air Training Scheme. Initially, the squadron’s ground crew were provided by the Royal Air Force, while the majority of the pilots were Australian.
457 was equipped with Supermarine Spitfires and became part of 9 Group of Fighter Command before relocating to Australia in 1944 (eventually transferred to the newly-formed 80 Wing).
The squadron was re-equipped with an updated version of the Spitfire, which arrived in a grey and green camouflage scheme. The nickname “Grey Nurse Squadron” was in recognition of the local Australian Shark and the distinctive shark’s mouth paint was adopted.
The original RG-V Spitfire was flown by Wing Commander RH Gibbes during World War 2.

A derivative design of Marek’s 1/50 scale Spitfire models, this model has been upscaled to 1/33 and completely repainted with this historic livery.
The kit also features other upgrades like photorealistic elements and simulated landing gear wells.
Kit contains 6 pages including basic assembly diagrams and internal formers.
