Description
P-47D -2-RE flown by 1st Lt Augustus Hamilton.
Hamilton was shot down by multiple German fighters in 1944 after protecting his squad mates.
He had volunteered for one last mission before ending his tour and returning home to his wife and newly born son (Lil Ham 3rd).
His fate was statistically unknown for almost 50 years until the wreckage of his P-47 was discovered in 1993.
