The famed 332nd Fighter group, known as the Tuskegee Airmen, were America’s first all “Black” Fighter squadrons.
The Red Tails are now rightfully recognized as heroes of WW2.
This paper model builds the P-51D aircraft “Little Freddie” as flown by 1st Lt. Freddie Hutchins of the 302nd Fighter squadron.
This is the fourth plane flown in WW2 by Hutchins with the same name. Hutchings survived the crash of this plane with serious injuries.
He went on to serve in both the Korean and Viet Nam conflicts and during his career he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross,
the Air Medal, and the Purple Heart Medal (as well as numerous region specific Medals).
