SAAF (South Africa) AT-6 (T6) Texan Trainer – South African Air Force Central Training School (1970)

South Africa began receiving Harvards/Texans during the second world war for evaluation and training purposes.  Over the decades, the aircraft became a staple of the SAAF and the Central Flying School training hundreds of pilots.  The Central Flying School was first formed in 1932 at Zwartkop Air Station and was reformed in 1946 at AFS Nigel with Harvards and Tiger Moths.  The Flying School moved in 1991 to its current location, Langebaanweg, and finally retired its Harvards/Texan in 1995, after 53 years of service.
