1/33 Aces Walter Göttsch Siemens-Schuckert D. III Paper Model

This kit is part of the Aces of Ecardmodels Series and Ecardmodel Exclusive.

Born on 10 June in Altona near Hamburg. At age nineteen, he joined the army as a volunteer and fought in the trenches in France. In 1916 he applied for a secondment to the Air Force and was
assigned to the unit Fliegerabteilung 33 (FA 33) , where from 4 April 1916 in Flanders, first flew as an observer in a reconnaissance aircraft, and later retrained on the pilot and after he passed the pilot test was relegated to Jasta 8. That seen here is D8346/17 and was to be the aircraft of Ltn Walter Gottsch of Jasta 19. At his behest D8346/17 had its fuselage doped in white, however Gottsch was killed on 10th April 1918, before he had a chance to use his white D.III. Also note the overpainted rudder cross.
