1/32 Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird Reconnaissance Spy Plane Paper Model

Description

Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird Supersonic Reconnaissance

The ultimate paper model of a Cold War icon! Skunk Works developed the SR71 from the earlier A-12 design, with first flight occurring in 1964. Intended from the outset for the Strategic Reconnaissance role, the SR-71 was designed to cruise at Mach 3, and be capable of extremely long range, in part through air-to-air refueling. In years of flying over the world’s hot spots, the SR71 was never brought down; it was capable of outrunning any missile fired at it.
The design used advanced materials and design to create an airframe that could handle the high temperatures of operating at that speed on the outer edges of Earth’s atmosphere. A pilot and systems operator crewed the aircraft, seated in tandem in separate cockpits. A variety of cameras and sensor packages could be carried, depending on mission parameters. Though since retired, the SR-71 is still considered years ahead of its time in terms of design and performance.

A separate accessory kit is available with ground support equipment and alternate tail and fuselage pieces.
