Description
Considered the most successful submarine in history, SM U-35 had the record of 224 ships sunk, which represented a value of 539,741 tons. The ship was lightly armed with an 88mm cannon and 4 torpedo tubes, two in the bow and two in the stern.
It operated in the Mediterranean Sea during the First World War, and of the four commanders that this submarine had, the best known was Commander Lothar von Arnauld de la Perière,
SM U-35 was decommissioned on November 26, 1918 and handed over to the Royal Navy who took her to the port of Blyth, where she was scrapped between 1919 and 1920.
